Oingo Boingo - Alive (1988)

Another personal favorite from the vaults that way too many people have never heard of. I have Jeff to thank for my appreciation of these guys and myself to blame for never geting to see them in concert. They were a California band and I was a California kid and I figured they'd be around forever. And why not? Didn't they consistently sellout every show of every venue they played with their legendary concerts? Why fold and call it a career at the height of your popularity? Please address your questions to the mercurial Mr. Elfman. Regardless, this album of live re-recordings is as close as some of us will ever get to experience a Boingo show. If you do enjoy this 2 disc adventure (and you will) I highly recommend the dvd of 'Farewell' that captures the last show - it is bar none the best concert dvd I have ever seen. So, thanks for coming by and tell your friends.

wish i had found your blog sooner this is a great album that I wish i still had. Used to love going to the concerts at halloween. It was a great tradition, I thought at the time some other band would step up, but it never did and it became a thing of the past and we we're left with knott so scary farm (accept in the parking lots)

I've bought "Boingo Alive" 3 times, or possibly 4. They booked shows twice near my Southeastern college town; both times the concert was cancelled due to poor sales (rumored to be under 100 for the '88 show). I've heard them called "the world's most popular local band".
