The Harder They Come Original Soundtrack

Reggae at it's best in one compilation from one movie. I have not had the pleasure of seeing this one yet but have enjoyed the soundtrack for so many years that I fear I may be disappointed since it cannot possibly live up to the songs. Jimmy Cliff is front and center here (as well as the movie) and gives us a healthy dose of the kind reggae. Also with appearences by The Melodians (the sublime 'Rivers of Babylon'), Scotty ('Stop That Train') , Desmond Dekker ('007/Shanty Town') and others to round out this classic. But it's Jimmy Cliff who really runs riot on this with classic songs that have withstood fad and fashion to remain among the most beautiful songs ever commited to tape, record or disc - 'Sitting In Limbo', 'The Harder They Come' and 'Many Rivers To Cross' - as a matter of fact I think I will begin listening to this once again right now...

Awesome Blog, thanks for all this great music.

I bought this on vinyl at a garage sale for $1, then my friend's dog ate the album cover while he was painting a mural of the cover art on his wall.

I managed to get it on CD and my dogs ate that too!

What can I say, the pooches love good reggae, I'll keep them away from my hard drive now...
