Echo & the Bunnymen - London, England Empire Theatre Jan 11, 1988 (BBC Broadcast)

Oh yes, the Bunnymen. My oldest blogging friends will recall my first post included some Ian McCulloch solo and I expressed my love for this band many times. They were so underrated that it breaks the heart of fans to not see them get the recognition and praise they so well deserve. Sure, Mac was reported to be quite the prick to deal with many times and often they were behaving more like football hooligans than band members but time wounds all heals, does it not? Or something like that. That is why I am so glad that great recordings like this exist and capture the magic of a band at their best. For reasons unknown to me and only relatively recently have I found out that a few songs were cropped from this show - maybe to fit in a radio slot format? Either way, a favorite (one of many, mind you) 'New Direction' was cut and I would have loved to hear it if someone has the complete bootleg then send me an e-mail, I am sure we could work something out. Here you go folks, enjoy!

Bombers Bay

The Back of Love
