John Lennon _ The Village Tapes (Last Sessions 1980)

Like so many children born in the 1970's I was always hearing Beatles music through my childhood. We are often prisoners to out parents musical tastes, for good or bad. I consider it a blessing to have been exposed to such great music atan early age - I believe it prepared me to become the music-obsessed-mp3-junkie I am today. The Beatles were the first band I ever gave a damn about and I can still recall crying myself to sleep that cold December night when I saw on the news that John Lennon had ben shot by some stupid asshole with delusions of grandeur. Apparently Chapman had felt that John had 'sold out' and he was disappointed in the former-Beatle's transformation, etc. I truly believe from all I have read (rather exhaustively upon The Beatles) that John was quite a conundrum. But I also believe we all are the same way - complicated and simple. I find it amazing that John saw no irony in writing/singing "Imagine no possessions/I wonder if YOU can" while being chauffered around New York in his psychedelic-vintage Rolls-Royce but despite his glaring shortcomings (again, all of us) he wrote and performed some of the most thoughtful music ever recorded for posterity. I believe there will never be his equal in rock and roll music. Just my opinion. These tracks were recorded for the 'Double Fantasy' album and a few extras are thrown in. Always good to have some Lennon music. I have hundreds of Beatles albums and wouldn't even know where to begin to post - so don't ask for any particular one yet. Please enjoy and pass along to your family and friends....
