Radohead - Live at KCRW

Ah yes, the mighty Radiohead. What a behemoth in concert and I look forward to seeing them. You see, all I have is concert upon concert on disc and dvd and patiently await my first live experience. Also, this show is one I cannot find any more information on when I go googling for it. It's not the great 2003 KCRW show that we fans know and love. But, it IS Radiohead and it's them in a live incarnation - and isn't that really all that matters to us? I hope so. It has great versions of two of DaddyRIch's favorites - 'Fake Plastic Trees' and 'No Surprises'.

Thom Yorke - Trade Justice Movement Acoustic Show April 16, 2005

Another of popular music's greatest voices, along with the great Mr. Coyne in the Flaming Lips post below. Thom Yorke and a guitar would be an occasion for me to sit in rapt attention for hours on end. Sadly he did just a little set for this worthy cause - but at least he did it, eh? Another of the great social conscience's of rock music (geez, do I have any real rrare u2? maybe abotu 100 albums worth) Thom has written some of my favorite songs and although I can't say too much about Radiohead's newest studio albums (they still are an amazing live act) and his solo work, but their legacy is assured as being the most experimental and progressive of all the batch of 'alternative' acts from the early 1990's. I love them, I do. Hopefully you will dig this too. Also, have you heard his cover of 'After The Goldrush' (Neil Young) done at the Bridge School Benfit a few years ago? Simply brilliant.

Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions Of Radiohead

This right here is what's known as a 'capital idea' - I want to shake the hand of whoever thought of these. There is a series of these with music by groups like The Cure, Weezer and many others. My oldest was born the same year 'OK Computer' was released and I thought, even then, how wonderfully melodic it was and played it quite often when we were together (as in 'always') and he really enjoyed it. The blurb on their page says

"Rockabye Baby! transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies. The delicate sounds of the glockenspiel, vibraphone, and other instruments will lull your little one into a sweet slumber. These versions of Radiohead are sophisticated enough for people of all ages, but sweet enough to introduce your child to rock’s smartest band. Their album Kid A imagines the scope and power of music created by a newborn child. What will your baby dream about while drifting off to these serene interpretations of Radiohead’s best-loved songs?"

Please support these enterprising folks and purchase many of their discs - they are doing a great service.

1 No Surprises
2 Let Down (Daddy's favorite Radiohead song, in case you were wondering...)
3 Subterranean Homesick Alien
4 Airbag
5 Paranoid Android
6 Knives Out
7 Karma Police
8 There There
9 Everything in Its Right Place
10 2 + 2 = 5
11 Sail to the Moon
